Sidney Scott Wade was born on September 30, 1909, in Bloomington, McLean County, Illinois. He was the son of Frank Wade. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1928 before receiving an appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy. Graduating in 1933, he was commissioned as a second lieutenant and completed officer training at the Basic School. Wade served aboard the USS Pennsylvania and USS Salt Lake City before joining the 4th Marine Regiment in China, where he helped defend the Shanghai International Settlement. Returning to the U.S. in 1937, he was stationed at NAS Pensacola before attending the Amphibious Warfare School at Quantico in 1939.

Sidney had a distinguished career in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving from 1928 to 1967. He fought in World War II, the Korean War including the Battle of Punchbowl, and the Lebanon Crisis, earning multiple commendations, including the Navy Distinguished Service Medal and three Legions of Merit. Wade played key roles in intelligence, operations, and amphibious warfare planning. He commanded the 1st Marine Regiment in Korea and later led the 2nd Provisional Marine Force during the Lebanon intervention. After serving in various high-ranking staff and command positions, he retired as a major general in 1967. MG Wade died on November 24, 2002, and was cremated.
