Marvin E. Clark Jr. was born on September 9, 1925, in Morehouse Parish, Louisiana. He was the son of Marvin E. Clark and Myrle Hogan Clark. He served in the 603rd Bomber Squadron, 398th Bomb Group, Heavy, as a Staff Sergeant and Waist Gunner of B-17 #42-102600 nicknamed ''Zoomeriago'' during World War II.
On November 21, 1944, the B-17G Flying Fortress "Zoomeriago" of the 398th Bomb Group was shot down after completing a bombing mission over Merseburg, Germany. Attacked by Focke-Wulf Fw 190 fighters, the aircraft lost three engines, and the crew was ordered to bail out. Of the nine crew members, eight survived and were taken as prisoners of war. The bomber crashed near Gotha, Germany.
SSgt Clark was Killed in Action and is now buried in the Baton Rouge National Cemetery, Baton Rouge, East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana, USA. Marvin E. Clark's name is inscribed on the Anstey Window Memorial in Panel 3 (right), on Butterfly 24, in the top left wing (section A).
