Doyt W. Faurot was born on December 12, 1922, in Van Wert County, Ohio. He was the son of Lester D. Faurot and Laura Valeria Fisher Faurot. He served in the 603rd Bomber Squadron, 398th Bomb Group, Heavy, as a Technical Sergeant and Ball Turret Gunner of B-17 #42-107186 during World War II.

On August 4, 1944, during a mission targeting Peenemünde, Germany, the aircraft was struck by enemy anti-aircraft fire (flak) and crashed near Fresendorf Beach, close to Greifswald, Germany. All nine crew members aboard were killed in action.

TSgt Faurot is now buried in the Ardennes American Cemetery and Memorial, Neuville-en-Condroz, Arrondissement de Liège, Liège, Belgium. Doyt W. Faurot's name is inscribed on the Anstey Window Memorial in Panel 3 (right), on Butterfly 25, in the top right wing (section B).
