Bailey Gordon Carnahan was born in 1914, in Texas. He was the son of Henry Welch Carnahan and Margaret Currie Bailey Carnahan. He served in the 314th Field Artillery Battalion, 80th Infantry Division, as a Major during World War II.

Maj Carnahan was Killed in Action on August 20, 1944, during the liberation of Argentan, France. He is now buried in the Brittany American Cemetery and Memorial, Saint-James, Departement de la Manche, Basse-Normandie, France.
