Frederick Delbert Deem was born on February 28, 1919, in Mount Vernon, Knox County, Ohio. He was the son of Roscoe Isaiah Deem and Sarah Elizabeth White Deem. He served in the 318th Infantry Regiment, 80th Infantry Division, as a Sergeant during World War II.

Sgt Deem was Killed in Action on August 19, 1944, during the liberation of Argentan, France. He is now buried in the Mound View Cemetery, Mount Vernon, Knox County, Ohio, USA.
