Earl Franklin Florian was born on October 13, 1920, Franklin County, Kentucky. He was the son of Ira W. Florian and Nettie Burr Osborne Florian. He served in the 318th Infantry Regiment, 80th Infantry Division, as a Private First Class during World War II.

PFC Florian was Killed in Action on August 19, 1944, during the liberation of Argentan, France. He is now buried in the Frankfort Cemetery, Frankfort, Franklin County, Kentucky, USA.
