Robert S. Hall was born on May 13, 1914, in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. He was the son of Case Milton Hall and Jessie M. Clark Hall. He was married to Sarah Mildred Moore Hall. He served in the 313th Field Artillery Battalion, 80th Infantry Division, as a Captain during World War II.

Cpt Hall died from his wounds received in battle on August 19, 1944, during the liberation of Argentan, France. He is now buried in the Brittany American Cemetery and Memorial, Saint-James, Departement de la Manche, Basse-Normandie, France.
