Samuel L. Lucas was born on November 9, 1917, in West Chillisquaque Township, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Luther Edwin Lucas and Susannah Elizabeth Snyder Lucas. He worked at Chef Boy-Ar-Dee Quality Foods before enlisting in August 1942. He served in the 318th Infantry Regiment, 80th Infantry Division, as a Private First Class during World War II.
PFC Lucas was Killed in Action on August 19, 1944, during the liberation of Argentan, France. He is now buried in the Montandon Cemetery, Montandon, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, USA.
