Arthur Schintzel was born on January 28, 1922, in Orange, Essex County, New Jersey. He was the husband of Bette Mae Woods Schintzel. He graduated from Orange High School in 1940 and later served as an infantryman with the U.S. Army’s 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division.
Schintzel landed on Omaha Beach during the D-Day invasion on June 6, 1944, and was severely wounded. After the war, he earned a business degree from Rutgers University and pursued law studies at George Washington University. He had a long career in financial management, serving both private firms and the U.S. government. Active in veteran affairs, Art held leadership roles in the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Disabled American Veterans, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Arthur died on September 6, 2013, and is now buried in the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia, USA.
