Arthur Paul Copson was born on March 11, 1884, in Worcester, City of Worcester, Worcestershire, England. He was the son of Octar Harry Copson, who immigrated to the United States and became a naturalized citizen in 1894, and Sarah Copson, who followed in 1897 and also became a naturalized U.S. citizen. He served in the 22nd Battalion, Canadian Infantry (Quebec Regiment), as a Private during World War I.

Pvt Copson died on August 3, 1916, in Belgium. He is now buried in the Elzenwalle Brasserie Cemetery, Voormezele, Arrondissement Ieper, West Flanders, Belgium.
