Born on May 1920 in Northwood, Iowas. Joined the RCAF. Navigator om Lancaster III JB226 of 405 Squadron. Took off 17:30 hours on the 17 Nov 1943 from RAF. Gransden Lodge, Cambridgeshire on operation Ludwigshafen. Shot down by night fighter. Crashed near Hochspeyer, Rheinland-Pfalz.

James originally joined RCAF under service number J/14672. Transferred to USAAF but continued to fly with RCAF whilst awaiting transfer to USAAF and was killed in action.
