                            Joseph Murdock Loftin was born on May 18, 1876, in Kevansville, North Carolina. He was the son of I. C. M. and Annie Elizabeth Loftin. He was married to Daisy Loftin. He worked as an attendant at the Holy Cross hospital before enlisting in the service. He served in the 2nd Casualty Clearing Station, Canadian Army Medical Corps, as a Private during World War I.
Pvt Loftin died on December 28, 1916. He is now buried in the Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery, Poperinge, Arrondissement Ieper, West Flanders, Belgium.
