Henry Everett Brassfield Jr. was born on October 25, 1922, in Tennessee. He was the son of Henry E. Brassfield Sr. and Betty A. Leach Brassfield. He registered with the United States Selective Service in Mobile, Alabama, on June 30, 1942. At the time, he was working as a semiskilled automobile mechanic and repairman at the Firestone Service Store. He had a grammar school education and enlisted at Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, on March 9, 1943. He served in the 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, as a Private during World War II.
Pvt Brassfield was Killed in Action on September 2, 1944, during the Battle of Brest, France. He is now buried in the Bowlin Cemetery, Jellico, Campbell County, Tennessee, USA.
