Robert Thomas Bruce was born on January 26, 1912, in Clay Center Township, Clay County, Kansas. He was the son of Robert Alexander "Cal" Bruce and Anna Sophia "Annie" Harrison Heskett Dixon. He was married to Geraldine Marie Walters Shepherd. He served in the 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, as a Private during World War II.
Pvt Bruce was Killed in Action on September 2, 1944, during the Battle of Brest, France. He is now buried in the Highland Cemetery, Junction City, Geary County, Kansas, USA.
