Pearson Cook was born on May 6, 1917, in Barnwell, South Carolina. He was the son of William Morse Cook and May Eloise Hatkinson. He served in the 28th Infantry Regiment, 8th Infantry Division, as a Private during World War II.

Pvt Cook was Killed in Action on September 3, 1944, during the Battle of Brest, France. He is now buried in the Brittany American Cemetery and Memorial, Saint-James, Département de la Manche, Basse-Normandie, France.
