Charles Richard Drake Jr. was born on November 26, 1916, in New Jersey. He was the son of Charles Richard Drake and Bertha H. Dull. He was married to Miriam Marie Kelley. He served in the 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, as a First Lieutenant during World War II.

1Lt Drake was Killed in Action on August 27, 1944, during the Battle of Brest, France. He is now buried in the Tranquility Cemetery, Green Township, Sussex County, New Jersey, USA.
