Robert Stanley Rentz was born on January 14, 1923, in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas. He was the son of Robert Walker Rentz and Ida Medora Weathers Rentz. He was married to Melva LaVele Beeson Tate. He served in Company F, 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, as a Private during World War II.

Pvt Rentz died from his wounds received in battle on August 26, 1944, during the Battle of Brest, France. He is now buried in the Nixon Cemetery, Nixon, Gonzales County, Texas, USA.
