James Rodgers Allen was born on January 18, 1932, in Maysville, Alabama. He was the son of William Alfred Allen and Minnie Emma Powers Allen. He served in Company H, 2nd Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, as a Private during the Korean War.

Pvt Allen was Killed in Action on April 25, 1953, in North Korea. He is now buried in the Cameron United Methodist Church Cemetery, Maysville, Madison County, Alabama, USA.
