Benjamin J. Pace Buchanan was born on September 5, 1894, in Carroll County, Georgia. He was the son of Benjamin Henry Buchanan and Sarah Jane Denney Buchanan.
He served in the Field Artillery Replacement Regiment, 41st Division, as a Private during World War I. During his service in World War I, Buchanan developed an illness or serious health threat which ultimately resulted in loss of life on January 1, 1919. He was buried in Ranburne First Baptist Church Cemetery, Ranburne, Cleburne County, Alabama, USA.
