John J. Koci was born on March 27, 1895, in Jefferson, Jefferson County, Wisconsin. He was the son of Albert Koci and Helen Margaret Anthony Koci. He was the husband of Agnes Suchomil Koci.
He entered the service on July 17, 1918. He served in Battery C, 332nd Field Artillery Regiment, as a Private during World War I. He died from pneumonia on October 17, 1918, in the hospital La Courneau, Camp Hunt in France. His body arrived home on Jan. 1, 1921, and he was buried with full military honors in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Jefferson.
