Robert Gonzalez Alaniz was born on October 18, 1927, in Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona. He served in the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, as a Sergeant and Truck Driver Light during the Korean War.
Sgt Alaniz was listed as Missing in Action while fighting the enemy along the Chongchon River near Kunu-ri, North Korea, aon November 30, 1950. He was presumed dead on December 31, 1953. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
