Raul Benard Babasa was born on March 12, 1926, in Tucson, Pima County, Arizona. He was the son of Jose A. Babasa and Maria Mendez Babasa. He served in Headquarters Company, 1st Engineer Battalion, 1st Marine Division, as a Sergeant during the Korean War.

Sgt Babasa was killed when a road grader from which he had dismounted rolled over on February 28, 1951. He is now buried in the South Lawn Memorial Cemetery, Tucson, Pima County, Arizona, USA.
