Martin Jerile Dodge was born on October 5, 1913, in McGregor, McLennan County, Texas. He was the son of James Andrew Dodge and Corine Gregory Dodge. He served in the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, as a Private during World War II.

Pvt Dodge died from his wounds received in battle on September 20, 1944, during the liberation of Eindhoven in the Netherlands. He is now buried in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia, USA.
