Godfrey Jon Hanson was born on January 19, 1924, in Albany, Alameda County, California. He served in Company G, 3rd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, as a Corporal during World War II.

Cpl Hanson died from his wounds received in battle on September 19, 1944, during the liberation of Eindhoven in the Netherlands. He is now buried in the Golden Gate National Cemetery, San Bruno, San Mateo County, California, USA.
