Harry Makoto Chinen was born on August 25, 1930. He was the son of Taro Chinen and Hatsuyo Fujita. He served in Company G, 2nd Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division, as a Corporal during the Korean War.

Cpl Chinen was seriously wounded by the enemy in South Korea on August 6, 1950, and returned to duty on September 1, 1950. He was killed in Action while fighting the enemy in South Korea on January 3, 1951. He is now buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii, USA.
