John Shigeru Eshima was born on June 24, 1930. He served in Company D, 1st Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, as a Private and Heavy Weapons Infantryman during the Korean War.

Pvt Eshima was Killed in Action on August 13, 1950, during the Battle of Pusan in South Korea. He is now buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii, USA.
