Ralph Takahiro Fukumoto was born on September 13, 1931, in Hawaii. He was the son of Kenjuro Fukumoto and Shinobu Fukumoto. He served in Company A, 1st Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, as a Private First Class and Light Weapons Infantryman during the Korean War.

PFC Fukumoto was seriously wounded in Action by the enemy in Korea on November 29, 1950, and died of those wounds the following day. He is now buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii, USA.
