Isaac Furukawa was born on April 11, 1926, in Sunnyside, Washington. He was the son of Koshiro Furukawa and Kazuyo Katayama Furukawa. He served with the 24th Infantry Division and the famed 442nd Regimental Combat Team during World War II, and later reenlisted for the Korean War. He served in the 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, as a Sergeant during the Korean War.

Sgt Furukawa was Killed in Action on July 25, 1950, in South Korea. He is now buried in the Evergreen-Washelli Memorial Park, Seattle, King County, Washington, USA.
