Yoshinobu ''Nobu'' Gusukuma was born on December 15, 1929. He was the son of Gazo Shiroma. He served in the 279th Infantry Regiment, 45th Infantry Division, as a Private First Class and Light Weapons Infantryman during the Korean War.

PFC Gusukuma was Killed in Action on July 10, 1952, in North Korea. He is now buried in the O'ahu Cemetery, Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii, USA.
