Yutaka Higa was born on April 24, 1928. He served in the 19th Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division, as a Corporal and Light Weapons Infantryman during the Korean War.

Cpl Higa was Killed in Action on October 13, 1951, in North Korea. He is now buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii, USA.
