Rin Hiraoka was born on November 9, 1924. He was the son of Nakajiro Hiraoka and Gonie Hiraoka. He served in the 57th Field Artillery Battalion, 7th Infantry Division, as a Corporal and Fire Direction and Liaison Operator during the Korean War.

Cpl Hiraoka was Killed in Action on December 6, 1950, during the Battle of Chosin Reservoir in North Korea. He is now buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii, USA.
