Edward Maximim Ishibashi was born on July 5, 1933, in Waimea, Kauai County, Hawaii. He was the son of Jerry Mamoru Ishibashi and Elizabeth K. "Rip" Akana Naito. He served in Company K, 3rd Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, as a Master Sergeant and Light Weapons Assault Crewman during the Korean War.

MSgt Ishibashi was seriously wounded by missile fire during combat and later died of his wounds on October 12, 1951, during the Battle of Heartbreak Ridge in North Korea. He is now buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii, USA.
