Mitsuyoshi Ishida was born on November 3, 1927, in Kalawao County, Hawaii. He served in Company K, 3rd Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division, as a Corporal and Light Weapons Infantryman during the Korean War.

Cpl Ishida was listed as Missing in Action while fighting the enemy in North Korea on December 7, 1950. He was presumed dead on February 19, 1954. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
