Hanford Kenji Maeda was born on November 5, 1930, in Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii. He was the son of Takeshi Maeda. He served in the 3rd Engineer Combat Battalion, 24th Infantry Division, as a Private First Class and Pioneer during the Korean War.

PFC Maeda was Killed in Action on July 30, 1950, in South Korea. He is now buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii, USA.
