George Yoshikazu Minakata was born on May 5, 1925. He was the son of Sennosuke Minakata and Mume Minakata. He served in the 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, as a Private First Class and Heavy Weapons Infantryman during the Korean War.

PFC Minakata was Killed in Action on February 12, 1951, in South Korea. He is now buried in the Beverly National Cemetery, Beverly, Burlington County, New Jersey, USA.
