Robert K. Miyamoto was born on January 8, 1928, in Lahaina, Maui County, Hawaii. He served in the 15th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, as a Private and Light Weapons Infantryman during the Korean War.

Pvt Miyamoto was seriously wounded in action by enemy missile fire in South Korea and died of his wounds on June 23, 1951. He is now buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii, USA.
