Yukio Murata was born on August 23, 1929. He served in the 223rd Infantry Regiment, 40th Infantry Division, as a Private First Class and Light Weapons Assault Crewman during the Korean War.

PFC Murata was seriously wounded in action by enemy missile fire in North Korea and died of his wounds on December 23, 1952. He is now buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii, USA.
