Wataru Nakamura was born on November 20, 1921, in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California. He was the son of Ryozo Nakamura. He served in the 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, as a Private First Class and Light Weapons Infantryman during the Korean War.

PFC Nakamura was Killed in Action on May 18, 1951, during the Battle of the Soyang River in South Korea. He is now buried in the Evergreen Cemetery, Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California, USA.
