Hiroshi Oku was born on January 7, 1927. He was the son of Risuke Oku and Shimi Oku. He served in the 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, as a Private First Class and Light Weapons Infantryman during the Korean War.
PFC Oku was Killed in Action on October 9, 1951, in North Korea. He is now buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii, USA.
