Shoji Sato was born on March 26, 1932, in Ewa, Honolulu County, Hawaii. He was the son of Kichizo Sato and Yoshi Kobayashi Sato. He served in the Weapons Company, 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division, as a Private First Class during the Korean War.

PFC Sato was Killed in Action on October 6, 1954, in South Korea. He is now buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii, USA.
