Osamu Tamura was born on October 20, 1929, in Torrance, Los Angeles County, California. He was the son of Inayoshi Tamura and Hanai Yamada Tamura. He served in the 35th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, as a Private and Light Weapons Infantryman during the Korean War.

Pvt Tamura was Killed in Action on September 9, 1951, in North Korea. He is now buried in the Pacific Crest Cemetery, Redondo Beach, Los Angeles County, California, USA.
