Yukiwo Tanouye was born on September 29, 1930, in California. He was the son of Momoye Uemura Tanouye. He served in Company K, 3rd Battalion, 35th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, as a Private and Light Weapons Infantryman during the Korean War.

Pvt Tanouye was Killed in Action on September 7, 1951, in North Korea. He is now buried in the Evergreen Cemetery, Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California, USA.
