Takaya Dixon Uragami was born on April 21, 1930, in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California. He was the son of Buntaro Uragami and Kisayo Seko Uragami. He served in the 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, as a Private First Class and Light Weapons Infantryman during the Korean War.

PFC Uragami was Killed in Action on November 21, 1951, in North Korea. He is now buried in the Evergreen Cemetery, Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California, USA.
