Nobuji Yamagata was born on April 29, 1925. He served in the 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, as a Sergeant First Class and Light Weapons Assault Crewman during the Korean War.

SFC Yamagata was Killed in Action on October 4, 1951, in North Korea. He is now buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii, USA.
