Yeiji Yamaguchi was born on November 1, 1924, in Pepeekeo, Hawaii County, Hawaii. He was the son of Yeisei Yamaguchi and Makato Dakujaku Yamaguchi. He served in the 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, as a Private First Class and Light Weapons Infantryman during the Korean War.
PFC Yamaguchi was Killed in Action on August 9, 1951, in North Korea. He is now buried in the East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 1, Hilo, Hawaii County, Hawaii, USA.
