Timothy Shito Yamakawa was born on December 1, 1933, in Hawaii. He served as an Airman Second Class and a crew member of a B-26B Invader bomber with the 37th Bomber Squadron, 17th Bomber Wing, during the Korean War.

On October 29, 1952, while on a day interdiction of the enemy's main supply route, his aircraft was hit by anti-aircraft fire and crashed. He was listed as Missing in Action and was presumed dead on October 15, 1953. His remains were not recovered. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.
