Taketo Yamane was born on December 20, 1928. He was the son of Aiichi Yamane. He served in the 23rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, as a Corporal and Light Weapons Infantryman during the Korean War.

Cpl Yamane was Killed in Action on October 9, 1951, during the Battle of Heartbreak Ridge in North Korea. He is now buried in the Kauai Veterans Cemetery, Hanapepe, Kauai County, Hawaii, USA.
