Joichi Yamashita was born on March 18, 1931, in the USA. He was the son of Aiichi Yamane. He served in the 15th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, as a Private First Class and Light Weapons Assault Crewman during the Korean War.
PFC Yamashita was Killed in Action on December 9, 1952, in North Korea. He is now buried in the Evergreen Cemetery, Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California, USA.
