Don Ron Yumori was born on October 10, 1926, in Imperial County, California. He was the son of Yumori Kaitsurō. He attended Pearl City High School and worked for the U.S. Service Station before entering military service. After serving overseas with the 223rd Infantry Regiment, 40th Infantry Division, and spending eight months in Japan, he arrived in Korea in January 1952.

On March 30, 1952, Cpl Yumori was killed in action near Kumsong, Korea, when the jeep in which he was riding struck a landmine while traveling in a convoy. He is now buried in the Evergreen Cemetery, Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California, USA.
