Lionel Eric Worth was born on April 4, 1913, the son of Emil Leopold Worth and Gladys Anette Worth. He was married to Elna Joyce Worth of New York City, United States. Worth died on June 8, 1947, while serving with the Control Commission for Germany (British Element), or CCG/BE, which was responsible for administering the British occupation zone in Germany following World War II. Composed of both British civil servants and military personnel, the CCG/BE oversaw various aspects of civil administration, including local government, housing, transportation, and policing through organizations such as the Special Police Corps, also known as the British Civil Police or Public Safety Branch. The British occupation zone was the most populous of the four Allied zones and encompassed the Ruhr industrial region and much of northern and western Germany, including Schleswig-Holstein, Hannover, Westfalen, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Hamburg, Braunschweig, Oldenburg, and Schaumburg-Lippe. Worth is buried at Munster Heath War Cemetery in Telgte, Kreis Warendorf, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany.
